Aviation art paintings of famous WW1 aircraft

The birth of aerial warfare brought many new ideas on how best to design and utilise aircraft. It also saw the pace of development increase dramatically as in just over four years the very basic flying machines with which the combatants went to war had given way to true thoroughbreds such as the Bristol F.2b, Sopwith Camel, Spad VII, Nieuport, Albatros D.V and Fokker D.VII. This diverse nature of subjects makes the era both interesting and challenging to the aviation artist.
