Norwegian Aviation Art – Norsk Luftfartskunst
The contribution made by Norwegian aviators and ground crew from World War Two to the present has been considerable. Despite being heavily outnumbered and having greatly inferior aircraft, the Norwegian Army Air Service (Hærens Flyvevaaben) and Royal Norwegian Navy Air Service (Marinens Flyvevaaben) put up valiant resistance during the invasion of 1940 and went on to supply a large number of pilots and ground crew to the various commands of the Royal Air Force, many of whom trained through the famous 'Little Norway' training centre in Canada. With the gradual build-up of men and material five squadrons would eventually be Norwegian manned. Such was the bond that evolved between the two forces that when hostilities ended the RNoAF (Luftforsvaret) kept its RAF squadron numbers, a practice it still uses to this day.
Now a foremost member of NATO and having the F-16 as its main equipment, this is Hansen Fine Art’s tribute to Norway’s aviation heritage and gives those interested the opportunity to buy Norwegian Aviation Art for the first time. |
